“There were 426 hospitalizations among 32,524 pediatric COVID-19 patients (with primary SARS-CoV-2 infection) in the observed period (1.3%)…Reinfected children [n=964] were rarely hospitalized: only five hospitalizations were recorded (5/964=0.5%), during the sixth and the seventh pandemic wave… Three fatal outcomes were recorded among 32,524 SARS-CoV-2-positive children, of which one was classified as a COVID-19 death (case fatality ratio=0.003%). This child (who) suffered from a serious congenital heart defect, died from pneumonia caused by COVID-19 in February 2022. The other two children died of non-COVID-19 causes. All three deaths were recorded during the sixth pandemic wave. No deaths occurred among reinfected children and adolescents.”
